NCM EXPO 2005 Summary

The First National EXPO of Ethnic MediaOn June 9th, 2005, NCM brought its flagship event to New York City, partnering with Independent Press Association-NY and Columbia University's School of Journalism. We hit the national media on Tuesday, June 7, with a press conference cohosted by the Asia Society to announce the results of NCM's first national multilingual survey of media usage by 64 million ethnic American adults. We built momentum at a lavish evening reception on June 8th, hosted by The New York Times to welcome ethnic media attendees and EXPO sponsors. And we opened the EXPO at Columbia University on June 9th with a standing-room only breakfast session on threats to press freedom; a networking breakfast for some 30 representatives of journalism schools and media enrichment programs from across the country; and an official welcome from New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. We celebrated at a banquet in the World Room of Columbia's Journalism School, where the Pulitzer prizes are presented, with a keynote address by FCC Commissioner Michael J. Copps.
